Undergraduate
Summer Research Opportunity
Want to gain experience in a project combining ecology
with geomorphology? Want to participate in a project that examines
the current problem of carbon and climate change? Want to know
a special place? Well if you answer yes to these questions, this
summer experience can be for you! Through field sampling of vegetation,
soil, and water, this project seeks to quantify carbon stocks and
fluxes to determine the contribution of landslides to the carbon
cycle in the Sierra de Las Minas, Guatemala. This mountain range,
located in eastern Guatemala, is home to an astonishing diversity
of plants and animals, and protects important water resources for
this nation.
